Cooling Systems

Description

1) Cooler Master.

This was the original cooling system that I mounted when I assembled my PC Under Construction. It served pretty well for many years, but some weeks ago it broke, and as you see the temperatures went VERY high, and the system slowed down A LOT to prevent damages to the CPU. A new one was needed...

2) Arctic Liquid Freezer 240.

EVERY review described this liquid cooling system as a MASTERPIECE, very high performances at a reasonable price. Easy-to-install waterblock, a radiator cold as ice, and 4 very powerful fans. Got it from Amazon (Because the online shop I always use did not have it), I had VERY HIGH expectation from this one, and... it just did not work. The water pump in the waterblock did not give ANY sign of life, so no water flow to the radiator and no cooling effect: in less than five minutes, the CPU reached the max temperature of 105 °C and did shut down to prevent melting. They sent a broken one, totally useless, A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. I really wanted to cry. So, I had to look for something else...

3) Noctua NH-U12S.

My dad always said that Noctua stuff was the best for air cooling, and with the money I still had I was able to order this one from my usual online shop. Now, as you see, it works. Temperatures are still a bit high, but that's because I overclocked a lot the CPU. One of the most important rules of overclocking is "If you can mantain temperature under 80 °C in daily use, then everything is good!", so it's still acceptable. Plus, the dissipator has space to mount a second fan to increase performance, and I plan to get it as soon as possible.

... and now let's hope nothing else breaks!>_________________<

Those temperatures to the far left...HOLY JEBUS!!! O.O And here I am worrying when my CPU reaches temps in the mid 70's. XD What CPU do you have? Judging by the number of cores, clock speeds and temps, I would guess that you have an i7 4790k? Those Haswell chips are notorious for their ridiculously high temperatures! >.< Then again I could be wrong though. ^^'

Anywho, my CPU was reaching around 75-78C while playing Battlefield 1. Even though those temps are well below the threshold, I still didn't like it. ^^; So I installed Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and lowered my core voltage offset to -60 (that's as far as I can lower it before the system becomes too unstable >.<) and my temps have lowered but 10-15 degrees. Perhaps you should try using that utility if you're still experiencing high temperatures. ^^
